If you have been through trauma or abuse, you need a counselor who specializes.
Whether it was emotional abuse in childhood or your marriage, a car accident, or a sexual assault - it has left a residue you can't seem to shake. A messed-up narrative about your worth. Affecting how you act and feel - your sleep, relationships and work, to name a few. Maybe you keep thinking "it was my fault" or "I wasn't worth protecting" Does the message "I should just get over it" ring a bell? If only getting over it was easy. Traumatic memories become lodged in the nervous system and subconscious mind. These mental pictures or negative feelings and beliefs can change how we interact with ourselves, our loved ones, and the world. They make it much harder for you to live your best life. They're in your way.
I will collaborate with you to help you free yourself of that tired old narrative, the one that repeats you're not good enough. Because you are good enough. And you deserve better.
I am trained in both talk therapy and EMDR.
I use a unique blend of talk therapy and EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. This is a world-renowned well researched psychotherapy that engages the mind and body to help you process negative beliefs and narratives.
While CBT can help you understand how negative thoughts and beliefs are impacting your life and give you a plan to change them over time, EMDR actually processes them out of your mind and body (nervous system) during the session. Many clients begin to feel better soon after beginning therapy. There is no guarantee as to how long the processing will take, and every case is different. When you and I first meet, we will create a treatment plan and schedule for how often you will need to attend therapy and which trauma targets you will together begin addressing first.
Many people experience life-changing breakthroughs with EMDR. Sometimes people can be in talk therapy for several years and feel relief and support but not see the deep changes they are longing for in life. Everyone deserves a chance for deep healing and positive change. Just imagine what your life would be like if you didn't have to deal with PTSD symptoms.
Everyone needs a place where the words and tears can flow without judgment. I care about the pain your are in - and your healing is important to me.
